Crystal Light Bath

I had the wonderful opportunity to experience the John of God Crystal Light Bed at the SunGates Center located in Wheeling, Illinois. The Crystal Light Bed is an advanced chromatherapy machine that uses light beams focused at the body's chakras through seven pure quartz crystals. The lights alternate on and off to provide a balancing effect on the body, mind and Spirit and ultimately stimulate healing.

SunGates Center, located at 395 East Dundee Road in Wheeling offers their Crystal Light Healing in a small, private room and I was able to lie down comfortably on the bed, close my eyes and listen to soothing, meditative music playing in the background while the overhead crystals delivered vibrations to different parts of my body. I dozed in and out of a relaxed state for twenty minutes and when my session was over, I stood up feeling energized and alive. Other people claim that they feel calm and serene after a session, but I felt as if I'd had a large cup of coffee and my internal systems were turned on. This vibrant feeling lasted with me for a couple of days. I truly enjoyed the Crystal Bath session and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to experience the power of chromatherapy.

Rita Bord, a Certified Holistic Coach is one of the leaders at SunGates and serves as guide for the Crystal Light Therapy. She also takes groups, large and small groups to visit John of God in Abadiania several times each year. Crystal Light therapy rates are 20 minutes for $25 and 40 minutes for $45. http://sungatescenter.com/

Sea Buckthron Oil

I don't like the taste of fish oil, so while searching for a way to get more OMEGA-7 in my diet, I stumbled upon Sibu Sea Buckthorn Oil. I found these little vegetable pills online and read several reviews that gave the product high marks for improving skin tone and texture, so I had to try it out. After taking one sea buckthorn pill daily for a month, I discovered a huge benefit... for the first time in a decade, my nails grew long and strong. Considering the fact that they had been brittle and broken down to the nail bed for years, the product's results were nothing short of a miracle.

Sea buckthorn oil somehow helps my nail structure become more firm and even smooths out the ridges. One day, I mentioned my discovery to a chiropractor and she too had serendipitously stumbled upon the same secret... healthy nails via sea buckthorn oil.

It is important to note, that when I stop taking the pills for more than a week my nails start to break again. And, if I want to ensure long nails for an event, I take 2 pills, one in the morning and one at night for extra long nail growth.

Current average Amazon price: $18.00 for 60 soft gels. Sibu Sea Buckthorn Oil

New Hoffman logo lr

I've invested countless hours trying to improve my "outside-self" by running on treadmills, holding yoga poses and straightening my hair. But the most valuable time I've ever spent in life was when I completely focused on my "inside-self" at The Hoffman Institute. The day I returned from Hoffman's week-long retreat, my life changed in profound and meaningful ways; my raw and battered psyche was repaired and midlife reboot began.

The Hoffman Quadrinity Process is like a lifetime of psychoanalysis boiled down into one week. The program was developed in the 1960s and has become increasingly more popular in the U.S. and Europe thanks to the help of celebrity graduates such as Kenny Loggins, Bonnie Raitt, Bill Medley and Roseanne Cash. Here's a passage from The Real Brass Ring that explains my experience in more detail.

"I can’t fully explain what happened to me at Hoffman’s weeklong spiritual boot camp. And like all Hoffman graduates, I must honor the confidentiality agreement I signed promising not to disclose personal stories from the Process. But what I can say is that on the first day, I sat in a circle in a beautiful retreat house in Napa Valley, where I’d spend a lot of time that week, and looked around the room, sizing up the strangers seated next to me. I saw a troubled woman with an oversized shawl wrapped tightly around her head and shoulders; an uptight, buttoned-up businesswoman; an attention-seeking actor from the Valley; an ingénue in her twenties; and a tough-guy shipbuilder from New England. I wanted to jump up and run out the door. What was I doing here? I have nothing in common with these people.

But I would soon learn that I was dead wrong. I had everything in common with these searching souls. We had all been imprinted with both the positive and negative qualities we’d observed from our parents. According to Bob Hoffman, “All children want love and attention from their parents. Children believe implicitly that Mom and Dad make correct decisions and know what they’re doing at all times. For a child, imitating a parents' behaviors, moods, and attitudes—literally becoming like them—often seems the only way to earn a parent’s love and attention. When a child takes on his or her parents’ negativities in an attempt to be loveable to the parents, he or she becomes a victim of the Negative Love Syndrome.

Using a complex mix of profound techniques including visualization, meditation, cathartic journaling, Gestalt, group therapy, and some Eastern mysticism, the process boiled down for me a lifetime of “therapy” into just eight days and “surgically” removed my unwanted negative patterns. In just a week, I was able to excavate my bruised and tattered psyche and found genuine transformational healing. I bared my soul and discovered a lustrous, resplendent being. I finally saw the real “me” in full glory as a smart, creative woman who loved to dance, sing, and perform. I was both an artist and an intellectual."

In 2003, Michael R. Levenson and Carolyn M. Aldwin of Oregon State University presented findings of a three-year grant research study of the Hoffman Quadrinity Process. Researchers found that participants in the Hoffman Process reported significant and lasting reductions in negative affect, coupled with significant and lasting increases in positive affect. Process participants also reported significantly increased physical energy and vitality.

If you are interested in feeling more joyful and light on a daily basis, start by taking the time to address the "inside" and check out The Hoffman Institute at hoffmaninstitute.org. The program is offered approximately 30 times per year in CA and CT and although the seven-day process is expensive at $4,695, in the long haul of life happiness, it's worth every penny.

John Newton

If you have chronic body pain or joint discomfort, it's time to consider a new approach. For the past decade, I’ve suffered with neck and shoulder issues as well as sciatica and plantar fasciitis. I’m a big fan of Western medicine and have pursued physical therapy as well as rotator cuff surgery when it was necessary. In addition, I've exercised weekly, practiced yoga, and used cold packs before going to bed to reduce inflamation. Despite my effort to strengthen and stretch, I still had painful, tender areas, especially in my feet.

Last year, a friend invited me to attend a presentation by John Newton. I knew nothing about Newton or his special gift of healing, but I followed my gut and was blown away. I was so inspired by his ability to Heal Beyond Belief, I schedule a private session with him at the Be Optimal holistic center in Glenview, IL to see if his methods could offer a solution to my persistent foot discomfort.

After one session with John, I found something that Western medicine could not give me... complete relief. According to the metaphysical world, body issues are tied directly to traumas that have occurred in the past. Newton intuitively sensed my physical discomfort and identified many of my deep, personal, childhood-related issues. He sat across the room, held out his hand, and delivered an intense prayer requesting forgiveness for any past hurts and wrongs tied to my ailment and included a line of ancestral healing. I don’t know exactly how it works... but I have not had foot pain since the session.

If you are interested, I strongly recommend checking out an alternative to coping with pain. Website: healingbeyondbelief.com. Newton travels to several states and offers group sessions for a fee of $60. In-person sessions are available when he is touring and phone sessions are highly effective as well for $250 per hour. http://healthbeyondbelief.com/
